    Climate of the city and the best time to visit :

    Canberra has four distinct seasons because of its latitude, elevation and distance from the coast. The four seasons that the inhabitants of Canberra experience are hot, dry summers, spring, autumn and mild winters associated with heavy fog and frequent frosts . Light snow falls in the city is quite common during winter.

    The best time to visit the city of Canberra is in spring (September-November) or autumn (March-May). However thunderstorms can occur between September and March. There can be precipitation in the form of rainfall in spring and summer.

    Location :

    the capital city of Australia has a population of over 332,000 . It is Australia's largest inland city. Situated at the northern end of the Australian Capital Territory Canberra is 300 kilometers southwest of Sydney. The city of Canberra is 650 km north-east of Melbourne. The city of Canberra has an ideal location between the two vibrant cities in order to balance the power between these two populous and fun loving cities. Canberra covers a total area of 2396.54 square km and is located near the Brindabella Ranges, approximately 150 km inland from Australia's east coast.

    Government:

    The Assembly of Canberra consists of 17 members, elected from three districts using proportional representation. Molongolo, Gininderra and Brindabella are the three districts from where seven, five and five members are elected respectively. The Chief Minister is elected by the Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) . Another four MLAs are selected to serve as Ministers to form an Executive with the Chief Minister . The Australian capital territory has no existence and is no greater than a village outside Canberra . The Australian national exerts little influence over the Australian Capital Territory. The National Capital Authority is responsible for designing and planning of the city.
