In the year 1901 Emperor Franz Joseph laid the foundation stone for the three-storey Vienna technical museum but was opened to public in 1918.The Vienna Technical Museum is located in Penzing district on Mariahilferstrabe. - The Leopold Museum:
The Leopold Museum, located in the Museumsquartier of Vienna is the center of one of the biggest collections of modern Austrian art. The museum has a collection of more than 5,000 artworks which were compiled by Rudolph and Elizabeth Leopold for several decades. After the compilation the artworks were transferred to the private Leopold Foundation. There is a grand collection of works of artists like Egon Schiele, Gustav Klimt, Oskar Kokoschka, Richard Gerstl in the Leopold Museum. The museum was opened for tourists in the year 2001.
- The military history museum of Vienna:
The military history museum is situated Vienna's arsenal in the Landstrabe district close to the Belvedere palace. According to records, it is the oldest museum in Vienna and also the largest purpose-built military history museum of the world. The museum was built between 1850and 1856 by an order of Emperor Franz Joseph I. The museum focuses on the history of Austrian military starting from 16th century. The museum is more famous for the largest collection of bronze canon in the world. The canons are kept on the Arsenal grounds outside the museum. There is one entrance hall and four big exhibit halls in the museum loaded with collection of things that were used during the Napoleonic Wars, World War I, World War II and the Thirty Years' War.
