The capital city of Brazil, Brasilia is located in the Federal District and is not a traditional municipality. It has a population of 2.3 million people. The city of Brasilia lies in the tropical region. Here the seasons are divided on the basis of the degree of humidity. Here one season is defined as dry and colder whereas the other is defined as humid and hot. Brazil has a moderate rainfall of about 1000 to 1500 millimeters a year and the rainfall takes place during the summer season. The best time to visit Brazil is during the winter season. Brasilia is located in the Federal District and shares it borders with it. The capital city of Brazil is surrounded by the state of Goias. It has a area of 5,802 square km. The city has an elevation of 1,172m. It is surrounded by the Preto River in the east and Descoberto River in the west. It is a well planned city and attracts the attention of a large number of tourists.
Delicacies/Cuisines in Brasilia:
Brazil is divided into five main cuisine regions. They are- north, north east, central west, south east, and south. Among these regions, Brasilia lies in the central west cuisine region. This region has dry open savannas or prairies with the wooden terrain in the north. A fruit called pequi is very popular in this cuisine region. The things which dominate the menu are fish, beef, and pork. These items come from the various regions in the city. The main harvested crops which dominate the menu are soyabean, rice, maize and manioc. Rice and beans is the most popular dish of the region. Other than this, the important delicacies of the region are:
Salgadinhos: This is a small savory snacks. They are filled with different types of fishes.
Cuscuz Branco: It is a milled tapioca filled with coconut milk and sugar.
Acai, Cupuacu: A kind of fruit.
Cachaca: It is the native liquor distilled from sugarcane.

Government of Brasilia:
The government of Brazil is based on the association of three political entities- the states, municipalities and the federal district. Another important entity is the Union. Brasilia falls within the Federal District. The governor of this city is Jose Roberto Arruda. The government was shifted from Rio De Janeiro to Brasilia in the year 1960.The important parties in the country are Brazilian Democratic Movement Party, Liberal Front Party, Brazilian Social Democratic Party, Workers Party, Brazilian Labor Party, Democratic Workers Party, and Social Democratic Party. The federation has five fundamental principles and they are: sovereignty, citizenship, dignity of the people, social value of labor, freedom of enterprise and political pluralism. The President is the head of the state and the head of the government. The President is elected for a term of four years and can be re elected for the second term. Governors head the government of the state and the federal district whereas the Mayors are the head of the municipalities. These Governors and Mayors are assisted by the secretaries.
