    Prague is the capital city of Czech republic. The beautiful city situated on the bank of river Vltava is also the political, economical and cultural center of the country for a long time having. At present the city has a population of around 1.2 million people. It is also one of the biggest historical center of the country and Central Europe. For its long colorful history, abundance of specimens of ancient Czech like the ancient buildings, castles, churches, museums, etc Prague is also one of the major tourist destination of Czech republic. In the year 1992 the historic center of Prague was included in the list of UNESCO World heritage Sites. The city has also got some wonderful nicknames like the 'Mother of Cities', 'City of Hundred Spires' and the 'Golden City'. So if you are planning a trip to Czech republic don't miss Prague.

    • Best time to Visit Prague:
    • Prague has a continental weather and climate throughout the year. The summers are warm here with chilly night and the winters are cold. In summer the average daily temperature ranges between 20 degree and 25 degree celsius it the mercury goes several degrees below the freezing point. The city also gets a moderate rainfall in the monsoon. For this continental weather and climate tourist visit Prague in large numbers in every season, but the best time to visit this historical city is between May and September when the days are longer and warm and the nights are also lest cold and the chance of rainfall is less. The city remains a little less crowded during this time.

    • The entire land area of Czech republic has been divided into three regions-Bohemia, Moravia and Czech Republic. Prague is a part of Bohemia which is situated right in the centre of Czech Republic. Prague is actually situated on river Vltava which has a major impact on the fertile land of the rural part of Prague and also on the transport system in the city. Prague covers an area of 6977 square kilometers and the city or the urban part covers an area of 496 square kilometers.

    • There is a local-government structure in Prague of two and three tiers and it depends on the area of the town or province. Councilors and Mayors are elected for the city once in every four years in regional and municipal elections. The mayor of Prague is known as the Primator. And for the regions, the Magistrate of Prague is the top authority that looks after issues like public transport, collection of waste, municipal police, firefighting, ambulance services, cultural activities, maintenance of Prague Zoo and the historical sites. In the year 1990, Prague city was divided into 56 self-governing municipal districts. Each of these districts are responsible for the environmental protection, ordering equipments for educational institutions, cultural and sports activities, organizing social and health programs. The district authorities are also responsible for sale of public properties, ownership and maintenance of public properties.
