The currency of Danish is the krone (DKK) which is divided into 100 oere. 25 øre, 50 øre (both copper), 1 krone, 2 kroner, 5 kroner (silver, each with a hole in the centre), 10 and 20 kroner (both brass) are the denominations in which the coins are circulated. Bank notes are issued in denominations of:
- DKK 50,
- DKK 100,
- DKK 200,
- DKK 500
- DKK 1.000
A visa is issued for the purpose of a short stay (less than 3 months) in Denmark and other Schengen countries. Employment is not permitted during the stay covered by the visa. - Schengen Member States:
Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Iceland, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Spain and Sweden.
- Entry requirements for Irish nationals:
Irish nationals must have a valid passport. No visa is required for stay up to three months.
- Entry requirements for Americans:
United States citizens must have a valid passport. No visa is required for a stay of up to three months.
- Entry requirements for Australians:
Australians must have a valid passport. No visa is required for stays of up to three months.
- Entry requirements for UK nationals:
British nationals must have a passport. No visa is required for stays of up to three months if the passport is endorsed British Citizen or British Dependent Territory citizen, British Overseas Territories Citizen or British National (Overseas) issued Hong Kong, or 'holder has the right of abode in the UK’ or 'holder is entitled to re-admission to the UK'. In all other cases, a visa is required.
- Entry requirements for South Africans:
South African citizens must hold a valid passport and require a Schengen visa for entry to Denmark.
- Entry requirements for Canadians:
Canadians must have a valid passport. No visa is required for stays of up to three months.
- Entry requirements for New Zealanders:
New Zealand citizens must have a passport. No visa is required for stays of up to three months.
Indian nationals (and other foreign nationals requiring a visa) traveling to any of the Schengen countries on business, for tourism or other reasons may apply for a Schengen visa for a stay of up to maximum 90 days within a six months period. The visa will allow the holder to travel freely across the borders within the Schengen area, if not stated otherwise in the visa.
For sojourns longer than 3 months as well as stays in connection with studies or employment, including work as au pair, a residence and/or work permit is required. However, special rules apply to citizens from the Nordic Countries, the EU Member States as well as Switzerland and Liechtenstein.
