Helsinki government offers a variety of visa for the foreigners. Each type of visa has a definite time period and has to be renewed at a regular interval. The terms and conditions of each visa differs from the other. Following is a details of the visa and currency of Helsinki:
Tourist visa: this is valid for three/ six month stay.
Entry visa: valid for three months to five years with multiple entries. Five years long term stays are available with due permission from the government only.
Business visa: valid for one year to ten years with multiple entries. A letter from sponsoring organization indicating nature of applicant's business, probable duration of stay, places and organizations to be visited should accompany the application.
Student visa: valid for six months to one year with multiple entries for students to pursue regular studies at recognized institutions in other countries.
Transit visa: valid for single/ double entry for maximum stay of 15 days for transit purposes only.
Missionary visa: valid for single entry and duration is as permitted by the government of the country.
Journalist visa: given only to journalists for three months stay in the country.
Employment visa: it is initially issued for one year stay. This can be extended by the Foreigners' Regional Registration Office in that particular country.
Conference visa: a letter of invitation from the organizer of the conference is to be submitted along with the visa application.
Note: visa fees once received cannot be refunded even if the application is withdrawn. Misrepresentation of information may result in the denial of the visa. Application received without complete information will also not be processed.
The Euro(EUR) is the official currency of Finland. Banks, ATMs, and bureaux de change are available in all cities and airports for the excange of currency. Travelers cheques can be cashed in Helsinki and large cities, but ATM are the easiest and most economical to get cash. 1 Euro=100 cents.
