Mellat Park:
Prior to the revolution of 1979, this park based in Tehran was referred to as the Shahanshahi Park. For being situated at the Alborz Mountains and in the vicinity of the Tehran International Fair grounds, horse racing club and Enghelab golf resorts, the park has been bestowed with a magnificent surrounding. The park encompasses a small bird zoo, bars and coffee shops. Activities like boating and skating are very common due to the prevalence of skating lanes and boat rental facility. People visit this beautiful park for strolling around, relaxing and picnicking.
Laleh Park:
This recreational area, situated in the capital city of Iran was formerly referred to as Park-e Fara. It’s surrounded by the Tehran Museum of Contemporary Art, to The Ministry of Agriculture and the National Rug Gallery. Reputed for the lush green beauty and the famous location, today it is compared to the Central Park of New York. Couples, families and children are the most frequent visitors of this park. People take pleasure in walking down the pathways, relaxing and picnicking during the weekends or other holidays. The fast food outlets, shopping centers, designer boutiques and coffee shops surrounding the park adorn it further.
Jamshidieh Park (or Jamshidieh Stone Garden):
In commemoration of Jamshid Davallu Qajar this park was built at the foot of the Kolakchal Mountain. Numerous restaurants, hiking areas, picnic areas and traditional teahouses surround this picturesque park. The most famous restaurant of Jamshidiyeh Park is built in a Turkmen yurt’s shape. The open air amphitheatre is another highlight of this park.
National Botanical Garden:
It was founded in the year 1968 and encompasses as area of 150 hectares. It houses some of the most rare species and herbs of the country. The special collections of this botanical garden of the country are: nursery, Caucasus vegetation selection, Japanese Garden, forest and picnic area, greenhouse, Persian and rose garden, trial and education plots, North American, European, Zagros vegetation selection and so forth.
Niavaran Park:
It’s one of the most famous public parks in Tehran. It’s known for social gatherings and several sporting activities. The stunning water fountains and the noted roller skating ring are the highlights of this park.
Gheytarie:
In the northeastern hemisphere of the city lies this beautiful park. Formerly it was resident of Amir Kabir, a Qajar Dynasty minister. Today it has become a hot spot for the young residents of Tehran. Bordering the park stands some noted restaurants and fast food.
Shahr-e Bazi:
This is the largest amusement park of the city and lies in the northern hemisphere. For being located just next to the Chamran Highway it attracts large number of tourists almost everyday.
Chitgar Forest Park:
This artificial forest of Tehran encompasses an area of almost 14.5 square kilometers. The park is well served by road and rail transportation. This park is popular for sports like skating and cycling.
Sa’ei Park, Shatranj Park, Kaveer National Park, Vard-Avard Forest Park, Varjeen Protected Natural Habitat, Jahan-e Kudak Park and so forth are some of the other parks located in the capital city.
