- Rails:
The state owns the railway system of the country and is known as the Islamic Republic of Iran Railways (IR). Raja Passenger Train Company is the associate part of the state’s railways system. It attends the passenger trains as well the international trains running between Tehran and Istanbul and Tehran and Damascus. New projects are being undertaken by the government to establish the railway system in a better fashion and increase the length of the tracks.
- Metros:
The metro system of Tehran was the first in Iran and expands to almost 60 – 70kms. There are five lines to cater to the numerous tourists and local passengers.
Line one: It is 28.1kms long, covers 22 stations and moves from Mirdamad to Tajrish station.
Line two: It is 20.4kms long and covers 19 stations.
Line three: It’s under construction and would be extended to the Imam Khomeini International Airport.
Line four: It’s 20kms long and comprises of 22 stations.
Line five: The length of this line is 41.5kms.
Signs and instructions are written in Farsi and English for the convenience of the travelers. The cost of the Tehran’s metro ticket is 750 rials for one trip within the city and increases to 1000 rials in case of the suburban services.
