Borj-e Milad (Milad Tower)
This tower is built in the Gisha district of Tehran and holds the position of being the tallest tower of the city. The 435 meters tall tower is a part of The Tehran International Trade and Convention Center. It encompasses a five star hotel, an IT park, a convention center and a world trade center. The plan to make it a hub for information technology, convention, communication and accommodation is in the pipeline. Apart from these main sections, the tower also features a showroom, library, exhibition hall, a transaction center, cultural, scientific and an administrative section. It is also considered as the fourth tallest tower of the world.
National Museum of Iran
In the year 1937 this renowned museum, designed by the French architect Andre Godard and located in central Tehran, was inaugurated. Among the two buildings of this museum, the former one comprises of pre-Islamic collections where as the latter one consists the post-Islamic accumulations. Artifacts of the bronze ages, Seleucid, Sassanid, Chalcolothic, iron ages and so on are housed in the building one. In 1996 the other building was inaugurated and holds collections of pottery, astrolabes, texts, calligraphy, artworks, textiles and so forth. Some of the collections date back to the paleolithic age and handful belongs to the Kermanshah Province.
Saint Tatavous Church
In one of the oldest districts of Tehran, Chaleh Meidan, stands this beautiful edifice. At the time of the Qajar king, Fathalishah’s reign this oldest church was built. The dome shaped roof, the four alcoves, the beautiful altar and the special chair where the Armenian leader sits are the most significant things of this noted church. Just at the entrance of the church the graves of renowned non Iranian Christians are positioned. The graves of Gribaydof, the Czarist ambassador and his associates are seen at the churchyard. The church showcases the Iranian architectural work considerably.
Niavaran Palace Complex
At the northern hemisphere of the city stands this beautiful and outstanding palace. This structure encompasses number of noted buildings and a museum. The Qajar dynasty palace, Sahebqraniyeh Palace is housed here. Until the revolution the country had to face, this exquisite palace was the residence for Mohammad Reza Pahlavi and the last Shah family. The intrinsic work on the doors, walls, pillars and so forth are mind blowing.
Treasury of the National Jewels
Some of the most expensive jewels of the world are housed in this museum of Tehran. Each of these jewels speak about the bloodshed occurred in the numerous battles, the country’s pride, the ruler’s power and the past history of the country. Golestan Palace
This Qajar complex is the oldest historical monument of the capital city of Tehran. Haji Abol-hasan Mimar Navai, in the year 1865 got this building rebuilt. Prior to that period it was the residence of the imperial Qajar family. This stunning palace has witnessed many ceremonies of various dynasties and other historical events. Emarat-e Badgir, Kushk of Shams ol-Emareh, Khalvat e Karimkhani are some of the sections of the Golestan Palace. At present it is operated by the Cultural Heritage Organization of Iran. People visit this palace to view the intrinsic detailing works, the well structured buildings and the belongings and item housed here.
Azadi Tower
It is housed at the main entrance of the metropolitan city and is the chief symbol of Tehran. This 50 meters high tower was built in the year 1971 in commemoration of the 2500th anniversary of the Persian rule. Hossein Amanat’s architectural excellence in the form of Azadi Tower has gained kudos world wide.
