    Treasury of the National Jewels

    Some of the most expensive jewels of the world are housed in this renowned museum of Tehran.     Golestan Palace

    This Qajar complex, the oldest historical monument of Tehran was rebuilt in 1865 by Haji Abol-hasan Mimar Navai. Prior to that period it was the residence of the imperial Qajar family. Emarat-e Badgir, Kushk of Shams ol-Emareh, Khalvat e Karimkhani are some of the sections of the Golestan Palace. At present it is controlled by the Cultural Heritage Organization of the country. The intrinsic detailing works, the well structured buildings and the belongings and item housed here are the highlights of this palace.

    Azadi Tower

    Right at the main entrance of the metropolitan city stands this chief symbol of Tehran. This 50 meters high tower was built in the year 1971 in commemoration of the 2500th anniversary of the Persian rule. Hossein Amanat’s architectural excellence has gained kudos world wide.

    The Carpet Museum

    In the year 1976, this museum located beside the Laleh Park, was founded. It exhibits a wide array of colorful and ancient Persian carpets from all around the country. It also houses a famous library which comprises of almost 7,000 books regarding different subjects. The museum was designed by Farah Diba Pahlavi (Iran’s last queen).

    Laleh Park

    This recreational area, situated in the capital city of Iran was formerly referred to as Park-e Fara. It’s surrounded by the Tehran Museum of Contemporary Art, to The Ministry of Agriculture and the National Rug Gallery. This tourist location is frequently visited by couples, families and children. People enjoy walking down the pathways, relaxing and picnicking during the weekends or other holidays. The fast food outlets, shopping centers, designer boutiques and coffee shops surrounding the park adorn it further.

    National Museum of Iran

    In the year 1937 this renowned museum, designed by the French architect Andre Godard and located in Central Tehran, was inaugurated. Among the two buildings of this museum, the former one comprises of pre-Islamic collections where as the latter one consists the post-Islamic accumulations. Artifacts of the Bronze Ages, Seleucid, Sassanid, chalcolothic, Iron Ages and so on are housed in the building one. In 1996 the other building was inaugurated and holds collections of pottery, astrolabes, texts, calligraphy, artworks, textiles and so forth. Some of the collections date back to the Lower Paleolithic age and handful belongs to the Kermanshah Province.
