General climate and the best time to visit
Rome enjoys a typical Mediterranean climate which characterizes the Mediterranean coasts of Italy. The most comfortable time is from April through June and from mid – September to October. The Roman “ottobrate” can roughly be translated as “beautiful October day”. During this time the days are sunny and warm. By August, the day temperature often exceeds 32°C. Traditionally, many businesses would be close during August and the roman abandon the city for holiday resorts, but this trend is gradually weakening. The city now remains fully functional in summer also. The average high temperature in December is about 14°C.
The best time to visit is between mid – September and October; although, a visit roughly between April and June will also be nice.

Roman cuisine changed over a long duration from the ancient time. These habits were affected by the influence of Greek culture, the political changes from kingdom to republic to empire and an enormous expansion of the empire brings along many new culinary habits and techniques from the province. Traditionally, in the morning a breakfast was served, the “ientaculum” or “iantaculum”, at noon a small lunch and in the evening the main meal of the day “cena”. Due to the influence of Greek habits and also increased consumption of foreign foods, the “cena” increased in size and diversity and was consumed in the afternoon, the “vesperna” was abandoned and a second breakfast was introduced at noon. The “lentaculum” is originally flat, round loaves made of emmar (a cereal grain like wheat) with a bit of salt was eaten: in the higher classes eggs, cheese and honey along with milk and fruits are also taken in breakfast. The bread is sometimes dipped in wine and eaten with olives.
The second breakfast is generally the leftover of the previous day's cena. The starter of a meal called “gustatio” usually includes “mulsum”, a mixture of wine and honey, eggs mostly hens and a large variety of salads. The main dish usually consisted of meals. Common dishes are: beef, pork, chicken, sausages, farcimen – made of beef and pork in an astonishing diversity of recipe. Hares are regarded as a luxury: shoulder of hare is especially favored. Fish is introduced in the later period and is expensive. Fruits are generally preferred in dessert the Roman differentiates between grapes for wine – making and grapes as food. Government
Rome is the national capital of Italy and is the seat of the president of Italian republic. The territory of the comune was divided into 20 sub–municipalities. The President of the Italian Republic is elected for seven years by the parliament sitting jointly with a small number of regional delegates. The president nominates the prime ministers and he elected other members. The houses of parliament are popularly elected through a complex system of election. All Italian citizens above the age of 18 have the right to vote. However, to vote for the senate the voter must be above 25 years. Rome is unique in its containing two other sovereign entities. One is the Holy See and the other is the Sovereign Military Order of Malta.
