Like Milan, Shopping in Rome will not give you that delight. But in Rome also you will find some big names in the fashion world as well as smaller boutiques and all manners of gifts and specialty products.
Designer Shopping
For shopping in designer labels the best area is between the Spanish Steps (Piazza di Spagna) and Via del Corso. Via dei Condotti is the home of some of the biggest names in fashion and jewelry. Along the network of picturesque streets in either direction are scores of other shops. Some of them are given below:

Clothing – high street and boutique
For high street clothes shopping and cheerful fashion you can try Via del Corso, Via Nazionale or the area between Ottaviano Metro and the Vatican. Boutiques with more striking fashion can be found along Via del Governo Vecchio, in the Centro Storico.
Souvenirs
Souvenirs can be found all over Rome at street stalls and in crowded shops. For kitchen gifts, the Vatican is the best area, with ranks of glow–in–the–dark Madonnas and holographic Pope cards. Shops around Piazza Navona sell high–priced ceramics. Countless little shops all around the center sell exciting pasta, sauces and culinary specialists from all over Italy.
Antiques
Antiques are big business in Rome and be sure of buying some in your visit. The best streets for antique shopping are Via Dei Coronari, in the Centro Storico and Via del Babuino.
Books
Rome has fairly a good collection of English and other non–Italian books. It has also quite a good number of international bookshops. Some of them are:
Feltrinelli International via E Orlando, 84. The shop has a wide range of selection of books on many languages. The English book section is in the basement.
The Lion BookShop Via dei Greci, 36 – a wide selection of books and a friendly atmosphere with a small cafe
Anglo American Bookstore Via delle Vite, 102 – a large bookstore but somewhat confusingly arranged. It is the best place for non – fiction lovers.
