Formally known as 'Republic of South Korea', this East Asian country is one of the most technologically and scientifically advanced countries on the global platform. Independence, Republic and Government:
On 15th August 1945, Korea liberated itself from the rule. But the period of strifes and clashes did not end with this. The autonomy established by Koreans after Japanese left was again taken by the American military on September 8, 1945 and they established a military regime over the country. So, the power of running government in South Korea was transformed from one country to another. It was only after three years period of internal resistance and great protests that South Korea could free itself from the shackles of colonial rule. Finally, August 13, 1948 was the big day when South Korea was freed.
Despite the fact South Korea got independence, it did not follow the structure of democracy in it's government. It was operating under an autocratic government. 1948 was a breakthrough year in this aspect when South Korea adopted the democratic form of government similar to the Western style. But till the year 1987, the election procedure was not fair.
Now the government of South Korea runs as a democratic one. There are three major parts of the South Korean government: Executive, Legislative and Judiciary. The Constitution of Republic Of South Korea dictates the rules, laws and rights to all governmental bodies. The country has a Presidential rule, but certain executives are independent from it.

Seoul: The capital city of South Korea is situated at the banks of the Han river. Being the metropolitan area, this city contains most of the population of the country.
